About the Guild:

The Scandinavian Knifemakers Guild is an organization intended to promote knifemaking as an art and the knife as a tool, representing the Scandinavian countries. To become a member of the Guild you have to make everything on the knife by yourself, from the handle to the blade.

The guild has numerous members from the Scandinavian countries with a large variety of approach to knifemaking, from good using-knives, exclusive swords, folding knives and art knives.

11 January 2011 -

The Helsinki Knifeshow was held the 8th of January and was a great success! All guildmembers who participated this year have been informed on how they are supposed to do to secure a table for Helsinki Knifeshow 2012.

The people arranging the show have been very clear on that they don´t want the show to grow any bigger than this, so tables are limited.

A guild-meeting was held after the show to discuss the future and purpose of the guild. We all agreed on that the organization needs to be updated and rearranged. All members will be contacted this year with more information on what we are doing in the future and what you must do as a guild-member.

At the Helsinki Knifeshow 2012 a larger Guild-meeting will be held where all table holders from the guild must attend. There we will decide the rules and structure of the guild.

A few things were decided in Helsinki 2011. They are as followed:

1.    The official language of the Guild is English

2.    The guild does not accept any more members until after Helsinki Knifeshow 2012

3.    Contact-persons in each country will gather guild-member thoughts and questions about the guild. These questions will be discussed at the Helsinki Knifeshow 2012. Contact-persons for the Finish members are Erik Nylund, for Sweden André Andersson. The Danish members can use André as a contact person as well when there was no one from Denmark at the 2011 show.
